Hair Restoration: Factors to Consider Before Going under the Knife

Hair loss has remained as incurable as cancer but like cancer, indeed, it can very well be managed with scientifically proven effective treatments. However, severe baldness may not be easily manageable by following a “do-it-yourself” program. Most of these treatments are directed towards treating mild to moderate balding, that is, at a stage wherein hair follicles have atrophied. Surgical hair restoration is the only remaining option to correcting total baldness.

But then again, not all people are qualified to go through the knife. Specialists take certain factors into consideration to qualify a candidate. Read on to know what makes a candidate ideal for surgical restoration.

By looking into the family history, doctors make predictions as to how the baldness should progress, that is, the type or amount of hair loss the patient may experience for a proper corrective methodology.

Biological Gender

Men and women experience different types of hair thinning/loss so when they opt to get a surgery, they may receive different corrective procedures.

Age

It is less likely for a younger person than an older one to be get a transplant since hair loss is still likely to progress as one ages. Besides, the doctor may find it difficult to make corrections in the future should the balding indeed progresses.

Donor Supply

The amount of donor hair is the most critical factor taken into consideration. The density of the donor site will determine how much of the baldness may be covered. In other words, the most of the aesthetic result depends upon it.

Hair Characteristics

The hair characteristics including the hair caliber, hair color, skin color, and hair type are essential factors in the entire equation as well. The characteristics of the hair primarily determine the aesthetic effect. The contrast between the hair color and skin color will determine how good the coverage will be. The lesser the distinction between the colors, the better the coverage.  Hair thickness will determine the same. Thicker means better coverage as well. The hair type also matters in a way it can provide light blockage and coverage.

Physical and Psychological Health

A patient should be physically and psychologically fit to receive surgery. Hair transplantation is still a medical procedure no matter how minor it may be.
Of course having these factors aside, half of the success of the surgery depends on the skills of the doctor performing the surgery.

After surgery, there are also steps to take to prevent further balding in other areas. Use tried and tested preventive solutions like Leimo. Learn more about Leimo here.

6 Effective Herbal Hair Loss Remedies

In the vast majority of cases, the hormone dihydrotestosterone is the main cause of hair loss in men. DHT is the chemical cousin of testosterone through the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. DHT attaches to the androgen receptors located in the hair follicles, altering the hair protein synthesis and causing hair loss.

Today, there are quite a number of DHT-inhibitors in the form of pills or medications, in general. However, most of them pose risky side effects. Natural DHT-inhibitors are less aggressive and are probably less costly. Here are some of the most popular herbal DHT-inhibitors.

Green Tea

Packed with several health benefits, green tea is also believed to be natural remedy for hair loss. It has catechins, which possess powerful anti-androgenic properties. Catechins are zinc-based compounds that help reduce 5-AR release and help the hair follicle cells to absorb other vitamins and minerals.

Pumpkin Seed Oil

The oil from pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc, helping to inhibit DHT discharge in the liver. It also has other essential nutrients including iron, essential fatty acids, phytosterols, and amino acids -- all of which are important for the hair growth process.

Saw Palmetto

Saw palmetto is a dwarf palm tree, endemic to the southeastern parts of the United States. Saw palmetto has a long history as an excellent treatment for urinary problems and benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). For this reason, saw palmetto is now used to treat hormone-triggered hair loss called androgenetic alopecia. AGA is triggered by the hormone dihydrotestosterone or DHT. Specifically, saw palmetto inhibits 5-AR enzyme from converting testosterone into DHT through its liposterolic components.

Saw palmetto is often compared to finasteride, the infamous hair loss pill. However, because saw palmetto does not interfere with testosterone production, it doesn’t produce the side effects known of finasteride.

Pygeum Africanum

Pygeum africanum is a huge evergreen tree that grows abundantly in Africa. Like saw palmetto, the bark of pygeum has anti-androgenic properties. However, its efficacy is not as widely proven as is saw palmetto.

Stinging Nettle

Another one of those herbs used to treat BPH symptoms, stinging nettles are perennial plants that love temperate climates. It has chemical constituents that can prevent the production of DHT. Stinging nettles appear to be very effective when used in conjunction with saw palmetto extracts. Aside from its anti-androgenic properties, it can add extra shine and softness to the hair.

He Shou Wu

He shou wu or fo-ti (in the American herb market) is a traditional Chinese herb used to address the symptoms of balding and hair thinning. It can prevent DHT from attaching to the androgen receptors in the hair follicle cells. It is an excellent hair growth stimulant, inducing hair to enter the growth phase instead of the shedding phase. Furthermore, it can be use to reverse premature graying.

5 Common Hair Problems and Their Speedy Remedies

What causes our hair to rise may just be the reason it falls -- literally and metaphorically. Whether it is your hair grooming practices, genes, or hormones, the hair and scalp can become a breeding ground for insecurities. Here are the common hair and scalp problems that we encounter at certain points in our lives.

1) Dandruff

It would be difficult to pinpoint the real cause of dandruff. It could be a pH imbalance of the scalp, excessive skin cells, infection, poor diet, product build-up, stress, and too much shampooing can cause dandruff. Dandruff is an indication that the skin cell turnover rate has increased. This leaves the cells in great disarray. Hair experts believe that the naturally occurring fungus called malassezia furfur triggers the phenomenon.

Anti-dandruff shampoos that contain selenium sulfide or zinc pyrithione can prove useful against dandruff. Lemon juice or olive oil can be used for a more natural approach.

2) Oily Scalp

When the sebaceous glands become overactive, the scalp becomes oily. Too much sebum, the skin’s natural moisture, production can lead to oiliness, which per se can encourage eczema, dermatitis, and scalp psoriasis. Tea tree oil is an excellent treatment for an oily scalp and hair.

3) Flaky Scalp

Often mistaken for dandruff, flakes are an indication that your scalp lacks moisture. Flakes are larger than dandruff and are usually difficult to remove from the skin. Furthermore, dandruff is typically yellowish and oily. Try olive oil, sunflower oil, or avocado oil in treating a flaky scalp.

4) Split Ends

Split ends are the result of dislocated hair shafts. In eastern medicine, it is believed to be caused by too much intake of fruit, sugar, raw foods, and salads. Too much of these expansive foods can prevent the keratin from contracting and enfolding. Trimming regularly can help to get rid of split ends instantaneously.

5) Hair Loss/Thinning

Balding or hair thinning can be caused by several potential factors like stress, aging, genetics, hormone imbalance, poor diets, illnesses, etc. It affects both men and women permanently or temporarily. In men, the obvious signs are a receding hairline and a spot baldness in the crown. In women, massive hair thinning is observed all over the scalp.

Androgenetic Alopecia in Men

Hair loss is devastating even to men. While there are others who just accept the reality of it all, others consider it a major insecurity. Pattern baldness is common in men. In every five men in their mid-20s, two men develop male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia, which is said to be androgen-dependent and genetic.

Being genetically predisposed to MPB means it can begin to develop at an early age. It is triggered by the hormone, DHT or dihydrotestosterone, which inhibits the hair follicles from producing hair, thus causing hair loss. While it is true that DHT play a role in the growth of certain body and facial hair, some follicles in the scalp are sensitive to the hormone.

Typically, male baldness does not occur too bluntly and abruptly. Men do not experience massive hair fall at any given time, rather, they lose their hair in a distinct, progressively slow pattern. A receding hairline is the typical early sign of hair loss. While the hairline recedes in an M-shaped pattern, the hair loses much of its thickness as well, causing the appearance of a sparser head of hair.

Today, people with baldness can make hair loss manageable with a myriad of treatment options. There is topical minoxidil which is recommended in 5% concentration for men. Minoxidil helps to stimulate hair growth but does not rid the follicles of the DHT build-up. This job is what finasteride does. Finasteride is a DHT inhibitor. Although minoxidil and finasteride are often used in conjunction with one another, their side effects can outweigh their benefits.

A safer, while not less effective counterpart of minoxidil and finasteride are saw palmetto and low-level laser therapy. Saw palmetto is an herb with very potent anti-androgenetic properties while LLLT is a hair growth stimulation technique that involves the use of low-level lasers. Both of these treatments rarely produce any side effects, if not, does not at all.

A good brand of treatment that utilizes the proven potential of saw palmetto and LLLT is Leimo. Leimo features the Personal Hair Laser Starter Kit, which contains a superior range of treatments, combining the potential of saw palmetto and LLLT in hair loss prevention and hair restoration.

The Stress Factor in Hair Loss

Not all of us will retain a full head of hair as we age. At one point in our lives, we can lose our hair abruptly or slowly. The truth is nearly half of the world’s adult population suffers from hair loss.  The reason they developed hair loss could be the genes they inherited from their parents, or perhaps due to illnesses, or it could be due to infection. However, one of the most common reasons we can lose our hair is stress. Hair loss induced by stress can manifest in many forms as there are different factors that can inflict stress on the hair.

Tight Hairstyles

Hair loss due to long-term or repeated infliction of stress on the hair is called traction alopecia. This can be inflicted by wearing tight chignon hairstyles, ponytails, pigtails, braids, etc. The pull-like pressure can lead to breakage in the outermost layer of the hair and spot baldness especially if not minimized. Female African-American women are often the victims of traction alopecia because of the hairstyles they wear on a regular basis.
Traction alopecia can either be temporary or permanent depending on the severity and the promptness of intervention.

Environmental Stress

Almost every day, we have to deal with different pressures, may it be from work or home. When the stress becomes too much -- for instance, from a death of a relative, divorce, or a tragic accident -- the body responds negatively. With all the mental stresses, the muscles of the scalp are constricted, hindering the blood circulation. Poor circulation leads to poor hair growth and/or hair loss.

Stress hormones may also trigger hair loss since they can alter the way the hair follicles absorb nutrients. In the event, the anagen-hair follicles enter the telogen phase. In other words, the hair undergoing the growth phase sheds instead.  This condition is referred to as telogen effluvium. More often than not, telogen effluvium is reversible. As the body recovers from the stress, the hair loss process stops as well.

Treating hair loss and thinning can be a challenge but with the help of a scientifically proven effective treatment, it can be less of a chore.

Is Your Hair Healthy?

This is the one question that no hair expert, trichologist, or cosmetologist has been able to give a resolute answer to. Does the shine say everything or is it the texture? Is it the bounce or is it the density? True enough, there is no telling what healthy hair exactly looks/feels like.

While the experts cannot really point to the same conclusion however, they do agree to some attributes with which hair is considered healthy.

•    Healthy hair does not look sparse. It should be thick, silky, bouncy, full-bodied, and fine but dense.

•    It must not be too oily or too dry.

•    It must be capable to easily adjust to setting and styling according to the owner’s fitting.

•    It must not be prone to frizzing and not appear limpy and rangy.

•    It must be growing normally.

Conversely, hair that possesses the opposite of the qualities is not considered “healthy”. A few of the most notorious signs of an unhealthy hair are dryness and hair and scalp problems like dandruff, split ends, and hair loss or poor hair growth.

Without proper hair care, it is near to impossible to get healthy hair unless your hair is genetically resilient. Anyhow, it is still very easy to rob your hair of its health and vigor. The series of things we put our hair through for the sake of beauty can be blamed for that. This explains why healthy hair is rare. Excessive styling or grooming, for instance, can easily result in hair loss due to the repeated pulling, teasing, or whatnots involved in the process. It could also be the chemicals used in hair treatments.

Proper hair care is of the essence. However, this doesn’t mean that more is better. In fact, for your hair to stay healthy, all you need in your bathroom is a good mild shampoo and light conditioner, that is, unless you have other hair problems. Seek professional help if you have persistent hair and scalp problems.

20 Postmodern Hair Loss Tips

Throughout history, from ancient civilization to the 21st century our hair is considered our greatest asset. It can affect our self-esteem, our moods, our social life and our outlook on life...

Whether we're born in Asia, Africa, Australia or Europe, there are, initially, approximately 100,000 hairs on our head except for redheads who have 120,000 hairs. Each grows independently of the others, in three stages: 90 %in the 'growth' stage, lasting as long as four-to-five years; 10 % in the 'resting' stage, lasting several months--until the hair falls out because of new growth underneath--and the 'new' stage, when increased cellular activity in the hair follicles produces new hairs.

Normally, we lose about 50 to 100 hairs each day. Abnormal hair loss can result from common problems involving both hormone levels and mineral uptake; from metabolic disorders or problems in the scalp and hair shafts, as well as from psychological imbalances.

Here are 20 postmodern hair loss tips for the finest head of healthy hair you're genetically capable of growing:

1.    Avoid overconsumption of salt in your diet (most vegetables have their own natural sodium) and sugar; skip them entirely, if possible.

2.    Same with alcohol and tobacco, also contributing causes of hair loss and dandruff.

3.    Avoid excessive shampooing--once daily is usually sufficient, using a mild, unmedicated, non-alkaline shampoo (organic ingredients, whenever possible). All bathing or showering strips from your skin the oil which traps water and keeps your skin moist, so avoid harsh soaps, especially those containing deodorant. Also avoid astringents, unless you have oily skin, in which case you can wash/shampoo more often. Those with 'dry' hair may follow shampoos with acid rinses or with oil-based conditioners (again, using organic ingredients whenever possible).

4.    Try headstands--or any position lowering your head below your body--several times daily (15 minutes each time).

5.    Massage your scalp by hand, or with an electric vibrator.

6.    Avoid excessive mental labor, as well as mental stress, both of which reduce scalp circulation by constricting blood vessels. Meditation and mental visualization and relaxation techniques are helpful.

7.    Because minerals are even more important to healthy hair than proteins, include both in your diet. Nutritional deficiencies can cause hair loss, as well as premature graying. In some cases, a copper deficiency may cause premature graying.

8.    Just as moderate exercise increases bone density and can improve hearing, it also improves blood circulation in your scalp.

9.    Periodic, scientific juice-fasting removes toxic chemicals built up in your body, especially from chemically-grown foods, the air, the water and drugs used, thus producing healthier hair and preventing premature graying and aging.

10.    An ounce (each) of sage and rosemary, left for 24 hours in a pint of good water, provides a tonic for treating dandruff.

11.    Apple-cider vinegar, applied as a rinse, is another folk remedy for dandruff: heat only slightly, pour on, and let it 'set' for an hour on a towel-draped head, before shampooing.

12.    Vitamin E, rubbed on the scalp, is also an effective remedy against dandruff.

13.    Rinse immediately after swimming in chlorine- or otherwise-polluted water.

14.    Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh, direct sunlight. Ultraviolet rays do the most damage, so avoid the hours they're most intense--10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during Daylight Savings). Even in the shade, ultraviolet intensity can be 50% of that in bright sunlight, while sandy beaches can actually intensify UV exposure by 25% (100% in snow). Same on hazy or cloudy days, when 70-to-80% of UV rays reach the ground. Most skin cancers, for example, are related to the total amount of sunlight absorbed, so do meter yourself.

15.    A correlation has been drawn between excess stress and hair loss, even among modern teenagers, so do try to reduce stressors in your life, as much as possible. Using your wisdom in finding ways to manage stress is fundamental to achieving better hair and skin vitality, not to mention the other physiological, psychological and spiritual payoffs. This is one of the best hair loss tips.

16.    Do avoid the hottest settings of hair-curlers, curling irons and hair-dryers to prevent hair damage, as well as avoid skin burning.

17.    Don't assume that ingesting more protein will stop or prevent hair loss. The U.S. has, by one estimate, 50 times more baldness than low-protein-diet nations such as China, India, Japan and Mexico.

18.    Instead, focus on appropriate exercise and on good (organic, whenever possible), balanced nutrition, including whole grains, nuts and seeds; fresh, raw fruits and vegetables (especially silicon-rich kelp, onions, nettle, comfrey and alfalfa); raw (unfertile, whenever possible) egg yolks once or twice a week, and if you still use milk, goat's rather than cow's, usually in the soured form--kefir, yogurt, etc.

19.    Also, try to be accepting of what Life has dealt you, genetically, understanding that even though all of the above can help with hair problems--especially those caused by nutritional deficiencies--all but 2% of male-pattern baldness, for instance, results from an overproduction of sex hormones which thickens the galea--the top sheet of scalp tissue--thus constricting the ability of blood capillaries to feed hair roots.

20.    Finally, bear this in mind to "Always avoid the two conditions leading to illness--unwholesome diet and behavior--by means of mindfulness. Avoid harmful actions of the body, speech and mind, and devote yourself to what is right. Neither torment your senses of taste and so forth, nor overindulge in sensual pleasures."

The above mentioned are top hair loss tips to stop or prevent hair loss from further happening. We hope that we have given you enough information to help you against your battle with this growing condition.

A Sprinkle of Helpful Hair Loss Advice

All of us have a legacy which we need to preserve. Like any important family heirloom, our hair is the greatest gift we can ever have. As the old adage goes, our hair is our crowning glory.

Hair is often regarded as an important aspect of one’s personality and individuality. Human as we are, we love to feel beautiful and confident in every endeavor that we might undertake. Believe it or not, our hair gives us a sense of power, without it we feel bare and vulnerable. For men, having a healthy head of hair gives them a sense of virility and masculinity whilst for women the feel of having a beautiful head of luscious curls gives them a sense of femininity and beauty. That being said, we feel a certain connection with our hair, hence making us sensitive when we start realizing that we are about to lose it.

The realization that we are losing our hair can be one of the lowest points in our lives. We feel a little less confident about ourselves and we sometimes feel scared and devastated thinking we might be the next victim of scorn and shame.

Hair loss is a natural process which is inevitable. It can happen to anyone of us, although the reason or the cause may vary, still we are definitely sure to experience this condition at any time of our lives.

Today, there is no ‘sure-fire’ cure for hair loss; however, there are fundamental guidelines we need to practice if we are eager to stop this condition.

As mentioned earlier, there are countless reasons a person suffers from hair loss. It may due to medication, heredity, infections and diseases, poor nutrition, improper lifestyle, ageing and many more. However, most people wonder if their daily routines have a negative or positive effect on their hair. Hence, to learn if you are on the right track, take a closer look at some of the best preventive measures to stop the progression of hair loss.

Hair Loss Advice #1:
Styling tools such as straighteners and curlers can place a great amount of stress on your hair, thereby causing damage and breakage. If you aim to stop hair loss caused by these heating products, then reducing the time spent and the frequency of using them can make an impact on the quality of your hair.

Hair Loss Advice #2:
Having a proper diet is a key for the healthy growth of hair. Eating the right kind of foods which are rich in vitamins (ABC and E) and minerals (iron, calcium, zinc, protein) are necessary to stop the onset of hair loss.

Hair Loss Advice #3:
Massaging the scalp is one of the simplest means of hair loss prevention and natural treatment. It is beneficial for the development of healthy hair because it can help stimulate the blood flow and improve circulation in the scalp. This process can also accelerate hair regrowth by eliminating the dead skin cells and sediments which hamper the development of the hair follicles.

Hair Loss Advice #4:
Drying the hair after you shower should be done gently. Beating up the hair with a rough towel and vigorous rubbing can cause damage to your hair because such force can break off finer hairs. Hence, using a soft cloth and patting the hair dry rather than rubbing can greatly improve the health of your hair and work wonders on it too.

Hair Loss Advice #5:
Coloring or treating the hair too often may cause hair dryness because of the chemical contents of the colorants. It can sometimes even cause hair breakages and split ends. Hence, to minimize hair damage and to promote a healthier scalp, it is necessary to reduce the frequency of using hair colorants.

Hair Loss Advice #6:
Over-washing the hair strips it of its natural oil that protects and nourishes the hair. A helpful advice is not to overdo the hair washing and to avoid using commercial shampoos that contain sodium lauryl sulphate instead find a shampoo with PH Balance labeled on it. A stimulating shampoo that contains nourishing herbal extracts like nettles, rosemary, horsetail and saw palmetto can help prevent hair loss.

Hair Loss Advice #7:
Brushing wet hair can cause breakage and split ends. Since wet hair is extremely vulnerable, you need to make sure that the hair is dry when combing. Moreover, always ensure to detangle the hair by using a wide-tooth comb.

Hair Loss Advice #8:
Ensuring that you have time to unwind can help avoid stress-induced hair loss. Hence, essential exercises and other stress-relieving activities like yoga, meditation and outdoor games should be incorporated into your routine. Sleep is also a great stress reliever which helps to clear the mind. Any form of exercise is always good for the health and will improve blood circulation to all parts of the body, including the scalp.

Hair Loss Advice #9:
Wearing hats, scarves and using umbrellas when going outdoors can help protect the hair from too much sun exposure. In addition, you need to protect your hair by applying a good leave-on conditioner with sunscreen to help prevent UV rays from causing hair damage and color fade.
Hair loss does not only affect a person physically but also psychologically and emotionally. The hair affects our mood and personal outlook of life; hence, we need to take good care of it since it gives us a sense of comfort and security! The abovementioned hair loss tips will help you avoid hair loss and at the same time stop its onslaught.

Hair Loss Facts and Treatments

Normally, people are losing up to 50-100 hair everyday through washing and combing. These hairs should be replaced of the same amount in the same hair follicle. If you're losing more hair than the usual, there might be something wrong and you must act to prevent it from happening.

Studies show that people who has vitamin deficiency is more prone for having hair loss so make sure that you are getting right amount of vitamins and of course, eating a balance diet is a very effective hair loss treatment.

Vitamins that are rich in A, B, C and E are good source in preventing hair to fall out. These vitamins have nutrients that will make hair shafts stronger. Green leafy vegetables are good source of Vitamin A, it helps produce oil that will help protect and give more health to your hair and the Vitamin E is an anti oxidant and will help increase the blood circulation in the scalp and Vitamins B and C provides more oxygen that carried by the blood and will give more nutrients and minerals to the hair follicles which will make hair grows longer and stronger.

Reviews shows that foods high in sugar food can speed up the ageing process and encourage hairloss, in addition,  foods that  high in salt can reduce the zinc (has the key to the growth of healthy hair) and can cause more hair fall. Causes of Hair Loss

“Ana? Oh, that skinny lady with a long, black, shiny hair!  Yea I remember now.”

“Luke? Oh, that tall, handsome, but bald hockey guy?  I remember now!”

Our hair is important.  It is one of the long lists of things that define who we are and how we are remembered by the society.

But hearing about “hair loss” does not normally cause panic to someone as compared to hearing about “losing one’s finger” or “losing one’s eyesight”.  But once you start to experience it, it becomes something that haunts you even in your sleep.

While it is normal to shed of 50-100 hair strands every day, it should alarm someone if he loses more than that on a daily basis.  Abnormal hair loss cannot just happen.  There must be a reason why someone’s hair will fall out – be it mild or severe.  There are many listed causes of hair loss

HEREDITY

Hereditary hair loss is the most common form of hair loss and is usually mistaken as a normal occurrence on ageing people.  Hereditary Hair loss, also known as Androgenetic Alopecia or Male & Female Pattern Baldness has a very predictable pattern.  By simply looking at your family’s history of baldness, you can be guided in predicting your own pattern of hair loss.  So if you’re parents, or grandparents, or even your extended family experienced hair loss, you are most likely to inherit that.

HORMONAL CHANGES

Sudden hormonal changes cause hair loss including child birth, discontinuing birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, underactive or over active thyroid.

ALOPECIA AREATA

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease wherein then antibodies mistakenly attack the hair follicles and hair falls out in small, round patches.  This attack causes inflammation of the hair root, which weakens and ultimately dies, & stops producing hair.  These small round patches, usually 5 cms in diameter, come and go.

HAIR TRAUMA

Hair or Scalp trauma also causes hair loss.
Traction Alopecia - Tight ponytails pull the hair margins up causing the hairlines to recede.  Trichotillomania - An impulse control disorder, a stress response similar to nail biting, causes one to pull or twist the hair until it breaks off, or rub their hair when they are nervous

TINEA CAPITIS

Tinea capitis is the ringworm of the scalp and is highly contagious.  The fungi may invade hairshafts or follicles beyond the skin level causing serious hair losses or breakage.

MEDICATIONS & ILLNESS

Some medications and long term illness cause hair loss.  Chemotherapy for cancer is one obvious example.

There is actually no “CURE” for hair loss.  What we can do is prevent it from getting worse and save whatever hair is left on the scalp.

There are already a number of treatments out in the market to prevent hereditary hair loss from getting worse.  Hair loss due to hormonal changes can sometimes be reversed once the problem is treated.  Alopecia Areata, in some cases may be treated, but in some, may not.  Hair loss caused by hair trauma will eventually be reversed once the “unlikely” habits are controlled.  Tinea Capitis can be treated with anti-fungal medications.  Hair loss caused by medication and illness may also be reversed after the treatment is finished.  While all these “treatment” and “reversal” may not be true for all cases, chances are there.  Your hair is important; give your best to save it!

Best Hair Loss Shampoo Survey

We definitely choose the right thing for us when it comes to our hair.  As much as how expensive or affordable it is as long as we get the satisfaction and result that we are aiming for, money doesn’t matter. We always make it a point that we find a way to be able to try one kind that’s suitable for the type of hair that we have.

LEFT, RIGHT, FRONT and BACK.

One usually does that when choosing a certain brand in the store or shop.   A lot to choose from but one thing to consider is, if that trademark would make our crowning glory healthy and strong.  Envied by many and a satisfaction to one self.

What does it take for a certain shampoo to be as effective and beneficial especially if one is experiencing hair loss?  Would you take anything from the shelves or you must take time to check what are its ingredients, where it is manufactured, expiration date, directions on how to use it, etc.  Might as well take a look at the model that’s embossed on the bottle, which would be the reflection of what your hair would look if you use it.  Marketing strategy it is.

But one thing that really matters is, if that product would really be of great help to you.

A little glimpse of the conversation I had with my fellow colleagues:

Jaz - I would rather go with the one that’s affordable.  In that case if it will not work for me, I can buy another one. It is just a matter of testing the market of what brand would work for me.

Mine – I’d prefer brands that are popularly known and used by Hollywood celebrities.  In that way, I will also feel like I’m a celebrity.  It would really be a satisfaction for me.

Kaye – Though it is expensive, as long as it is made of natural ingredients.  It doesn’t matter how much I spend as long as it suits my hair type. Natural ingredients are the best option like what I’m using right now.  And I’ve heard a lot of people using it and it gained a lot of positive comments.

Alie – One I’ve grown up with.  In that way, it is already tried and tested by my parents and elders.  In short, it has already been proved that it works.

Cas – Those that are highly recommended by friends.  If I have observed that it really works on her, that I saw a different aura in her, then that is what you call effective.

Marg – I usually experiment those that were advertised on television.  It is like a trial and error process.  Though it is really a hassle on my part but patience is what it takes to achieve my goal.

Euni – One that is suitable for me.  It is really important that if I buy a certain product, I get something out of it.

Bea – Beneficial to one self and I can have it for everyday use and won’t cause breakage.

Facts About Hair Loss in Men and Women

Hair loss is a very distressing occurrence for both men and women. Hair loss occurs naturally everyday and increases with age.  Mostly are deeply concerned about the condition of their hair and will do anything just to prevent further hair loss or to re-grow hair.  There are a lots of products  that claim to promote hair growth and prevent thinning hair however some of them cause dangerous side effects. Hair loss for  both men and women can be caused be a wide variety of other  nutritional and medical issues.  Hormonal problem is one of the reasons for hair loss, as can deficiencies in numerous vitamins such as vitamin E, vitamin D or Vitamin A.  The hormonal process of testosterone converting to DHT or Dihydrotestosterone, which then harms hair follicles, happens in both men and women.

The most common type of hair loss in women occurs in a diffuse pattern. Diffuse hair loss is most often hereditary, but it can also be caused by underlying medical conditions, medications, and other factors. Hereditary baldness in women, also called female pattern alopecia, is genetic and can come either the mother’s or father’s side of the family. It is caused by the actions of two enzymes; aromatase (which is found predominantly in women) and 5-a reductase (which is found in both women and men). Women have half the amount of 5-a reductase compared to men, but have higher levels of the enzyme aromatase, especially at their frontal hairline. Aromatase is responsible for the formation of the female hormones estrone and estradiol. It also decreases the formation of DHT. Its presence in women may help to explain why the presentation of female hair loss is so different than in males, particularly with respect to the preservation of the frontal hairline.

Common cause of hair loss in men is Androgenetic alopecia, also referred to as “male pattern” or “common” baldness. It is caused by the effects of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on genetically susceptible scalp hair follicles. Androgenetic hair loss is caused by three interdependent factors: genes, hormones, and age.

Genes -common baldness cannot occur without the presence of specific inherited genes. These genes can be passed on by either parent. A gene is a single bit of chemically encoded hereditary instruction that is located on a chromosome and actually represents a tiny segment of DNA.

Hormones -  it is  biochemical substances that are made in various glands throughout the body. These glands secrete their products directly into the bloodstream so that the chemical they make is spread throughout the body. These chemicals are very powerful so that only minute amounts of them have profound effects upon the body.

Age - The presence of the necessary genes and hormones is not alone sufficient to cause baldness. Even after a person has reached puberty, susceptible hair follicles must continually be exposed to the hormone over a period of time for hair loss to occur. The age at which these effects finally manifest themselves varies from one individual to another and is related to a person’s genetic composition and to the levels of testosterone in the bloodstream. Male hair loss does not occur all at once nor in a steady, straight-line progression. Hair loss is characteristically cyclical. People who are losing their hair experience alternating periods of slow and rapid hair loss and even stability. Many of the reasons that hair loss rates speed up and speed down are unknown, but we do know that with age, a person’s total hair volume will decrease.

Do you consider the bald look?

If you are a man, people will presumably find the bald look okay because there are a lot of guys out there that look good even if they’re bald just like Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum or Vin Diesel. However, a style that looks great on one guy might not look good on you so you may want to think it over before you consider the new look.

For me, bald guys are just okay and it’s no big deal since they say balding or thinning of hair is a normal part of aging process but if you are female? Getting bald patches in your head is not acceptable and is never going to be okay.

Thinning of hair or baldness is normal when a person is getting older, this is normal especially in people ages 40 and above. Although, hair loss can happen at any age and range, it appears more often among the elderly. There are multiple causes of hair loss, it could be due to hereditary hair loss or it may be linked to some medical conditions, medications, stress, poor diet, hormonal imbalance, thyroid malfunction, injury and impairment.

What are you going do to stop your hair from falling out?

If you are 50 year old guy with a receding hair line, you may want to comb your hair forward to cover the bald spots or areas that are already showing your scalp. On the other hand, if you are 50 year old woman whose hair is thinning on top or has a bald patch on the sides of your head, maybe you’re not too bothered about it because you still have few hair to cover it. Old guys may consider themselves bald but what about men and women on their mid 20’s whose losing hair at an early age?

Here’s how to stop hair loss

Take care of your hair

Use mild hair care products and avoid frequent use of heat based styling products and chemicals such as curling iron, straightening iron, hair dryer hair perm and colors.

Girls you don’t have to mimic hairstyle that you saw on TV just to grab people's attention. I know it helps us women stand out and give us more confidence. But did you ever ask yourself what karma to gain for all the hype your looks received?
Changing your hairstyle several times a year without proper treatment will give you three things to worry; hair breakage, split ends and worst is hair loss. There is no cure for hair loss because it's not within our control but proper hair care is believed to be the beginning of having a fuller healthy hair.

Learn how to manage stress

Hair loss due to stress could be a warning signal that you're overdoing things. It’s time to relax!  take time away from caretaking duties to take care of yourself, exercise regularly and be happy!

Consider Treatments

They said prevention is better than cure. It’s better to save the looks and hair that you got than lose it forever. There are a lot of hair loss products out there in the market today to choose from but a few are really worth looking into

TOPICAL TREATMENT

There are numerous topical treatments that claim to minimize dyhydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp.  It is believed to revitalize shrunken hair follicles so they increase in size, but how it exactly works is unproven.

Minoxidil has been approved by FDA for the treatment of male pattern baldness. The drug was originally used to treat high blood pressure. However it was discovered to have the side effects of hair re-growth and reversing baldness.

Finasteride on the other hand has been approved by Food and Drug Administration to treat enlargement of prostate. It also works in slowing hair loss and stimulating new hair gwoth. However it is not recommended for use in women.

Laser Treatment

Either hair loss clinic or a hair laser comb – a do it yourself program, the treatment is just basically the same it works by reactivating dormant hair follicle and stimulates hair re-growth.

Home Remedies

There are easy and natural remedies that can help regrow your hair. e.g Massage coconut milk into your scalp before taking a bath. Do this as your routine every day until your hair loss stops and healthy hair grows back in or Massage a few drops of almond oil to your hair every day or apply mayonnaise to keep your hair thick and strong.

It’s your choice. Choose which treatment that will fit your budget! Good luck
