2 DIY Hair Care Recipes Made From Cinnamon

Cinnamon spice comes from the outer bark of a Cinnamomum plant, a small evergreen wild tree that belongs to the family of laurel.  This sweet tangy spice is popularly used as herbal remedies for various ailments and afflictions since it has antimicrobial properties. Apart from being an arthritic pain-reliever and blood purifier, cinnamon is also beneficial for the growth of healthier hair strands.

The antiviral and antifungal properties of cinnamon helps prevent against the onset of skin and hair problems. Massaging cinnamon oil also helps promote better circulation, thereby delivering sufficient amount of nutrients and oxygen into the hair roots for the development of thicker and healthier hair follicles.

With the above-mentioned hair care benefits of cinnamon, here are a few DIY (do-it-yourself) hair care recipes made from cinnamon.

DIY Cinnamon Recipe to Promote Hair Growth

    What You Need:

-        Cinnamon (1 tsp.);

-        honey (1 tsp.); and

-        olive oil (1/2 cup);

    What You Need:

-        In a small saucepan, pour the ½ cup of olive oil. Then, warm the oil to a lukewarm temperature.

-        Next, pour the olive into a bowl and add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of honey. Stir the mixture thoroughly with the use of a spoon.

-        Let the mixture warm and apply the paste on the scalp and the hair strand using a brush applicator. Work around the entire scalp and the hair from back to front and root to tip, respectively.

-        Finally, cover your hair with a shower cap and let the paste sit on the hair for at least 15 minutes.  Do this hair treatment once a week to promote healthier hair growth.

DIY Cinnamon Recipe to Lighten the Hair

What You Need:

-        honey ( 1 cup);

-        lemon juice ( 1 tsp.);

-        organic deep conditioner (1 cup); and

-        Cinnamon (2 tbsp.).

What to Do:

    Add all the ingredients (i.e., 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 cup of organic deep conditioner and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon) thoroughly.
    Apply the mixture into the wet hair. Note: Concentrate on the areas that you want to have highlights.   Then, cover the hair with a plastic cap and leave it on the head for 3–4 hours or, if you can tolerate the tingly sensation, let it sit overnight.
    After 3–4 hours, wash your hair with lukewarm water.
    If you want to hasten the lightening process as well as add moisture to your newly highlighter hair, then apply the pure onto into your entire scalp.
